Even just for a single season that'd be a great signing to help bring through Burrow and help drive standards while we look for a long term lock signing in the inevitable post-RWC free for all

Hope it's true

Actually a little more sceptical after looking at his stats on All.Rugby, he's played almost no lock since moving to France (last time was early last season and before that hadn't started there since Jan 2020) - I'm sure a player of his calibre would be able to slot back in there no fuss, but...we really need a dedicated lock

I still think he'd be a big positive however only for the right price - kinda feels like it should've been instead of rather than as well as Tshiunza

Earlier today, according to the same source he was supposedly going to Tigers

https://www.rugbypass.com/news/courtney ... gher-prem/
Doesn't actually say that does it? Only that Tigers were interested in signing him.
True. But no other club is mentioned and then 5 hours later it’s a done deal that he’s coming to us.

It’s easy to always be right if you hedge your bets.

Terrific signing ( if true ), BUT I hope we see more of him than England does.

At his best, Lawes is (I hope it’s not was) the player the CCS should hope to become

I like this - also nice to sign a 'big name' - as others have said should be a great influence on the youngsters and will be keen to put in performances on the pitch to get back into the England setup

The influence is key in my mind. Bamber, Burrow and Hogg would have grown up watching Lawes highlight's videos on Youtube. He's one of the greatest back 5 operators England has ever produced and will, undoubtedly, have a huge impact on our squad even if he isn't starting week in week out.

Good signing IMO. I've always liked how he plays and he can be a great benefit to our 'almost there's'.

Amazing news! Really thrilled with that. A quick glance at his stats seems like he's in good knick , 17 starts out of the last possible 25 games for Brive. I'm in no doubt he's past his peak, but like others have pointed out, will be a great role model for the yunguns :caffine:

Yep, happy with that too and when I told my son, his reply was “Bloody hell”.

A quality lineout operator, enforcer and as you’ve all noted, he’ll be great for developing our younger talent.

When I first started watching Sale, we had Nathan Hines, and he seemed to do a great job. Lawes had a higher ceiling at his peak and still has at this stage, so his influence should be accordingly bigger too.
