Pre-season friendly

Caldy 47 - 12 Sale FC

I think that that is the score, the only reference that I can find when I looked earlier is on Caldy’s Facebook page and the font used is not of the clearest.

Manchester 31- Macclesfield 17.

Refereed by an old Sale FC favourite Jack Moorhouse, I believe, who retired from our playing squad at the end of last term.

I'm not sure which gives me the most pleasure - Kendal having such a strong win or Kirkby Lonsdale getting a spanking.

Meanwhile, for the 2nd week on the trot, the 2nds didn't have a game as the opposition couldn't raise a team

Kendal 69 Burnage 14
Job well done - a first win and maximum points
https://www.kendalrugby.co.uk/teams/921 ... 998/report

Before the full match report comes up -- Kendal had a couple of last seasons Colts making their debut (1 x 17 yo and 1 x 18yo) and neither looked out of place.
Burnage well and truly shot themselves in the foot with both barrels when one of their players got sent off for punching (not just 1 punch, but several)
& a dishonourable mention in dispatches is due to the Burnage #7. He is possibly the most angry person who I've ever seen on a rugby pitch. When he wasn't loudly effing and jeffing at his team mates and coaches, he was going out of his way to pick an arguement with anyone who was pitchside (the shame of it was, when he actually playyed rugby, he was a handy player).

Sadly, Kendal's 2nd team was called off, because the other team refused to travel. Of Kendal 2nd xv 4 fixtures so far this season, 3 haven't taken place due to the other Club being unable to raise a team or refuse to travel. Not good.

Was the lad shown a red card for punching his own #7? By the sounds of it there will be a number of his team mates who will shortly be doing so. Players like this are of absolutely no use to a side no matter how good they might be.

The centre who got carded threw, (& connected with !) several full on punches - for whatever reason, he'd "lost it" completely. Regarding the 7, he did seem to go out of his way to attempt to wind up as many people on & off the pitch as possible - very unusual and something that I'd never seen before at rugby.

Congratulations on your win.

The Lancashire RFU dismissed the red card received by the Burnage player after reviewing video (from the referee's assessor) on Thursday.

Hi Mike

Then it's a good job that the referee assessor had his camera with him  From pitchside, he was giving it plenty !

Kendal 2nd Xv 10 Macclesfield 2nd Xv 34

The game started with a huge downpour, followed by hailstorms, then thunder & lightning. Kendal quickly went into a 10 -0 lead, then steadily Macc came back. It was pretty even until a Kendal player got red carded and Macc then took advantage of suprerior numbers.

Sundays Senior Colts game is Off with Manchester unable to raise a team / unwilling to travel. Poor show. Again.

Kirkby Lonsdale 23 Kendal 46
A much needed win for Kendal and even better when its at the expense of our nearest and dearest. Kendal have a had a torrid time with injuries of recent and (I think) only one of last weeks backs started today - the rest out of action. *****
Kendal move up a place to 9th.
A struggles at times - but job done

**** even with the First Team as heavily depleted as they are, Kendal still managed to put out 2 Senior Teams with Subs - something that would have been nigh on impossible until fairly recently.

Kudos to Macc 1'sts for beating table topping Blackburn.

Manchester 31 Stockport 25
5 pts to MRC, a losing bonus pt to Stockport.
After good starts to the season both sides had gone somewhat off the boil in their previous two games resulting in them both dropping to 5th and 6th in the table ; separated only by points difference.
In this the sixth round, despite the wet weather, Manchester's more open gameplan proved the more successful. The 500+ spectators really enjoyed a quality local derby. It even had a Sale-like sqeaky-bum hold-up over the line towards the end. That, the lack of scrums for the last 25-30 minutes and the MOM-worthy defensive performance of Manchester's captain proving the difference ( 20ish tackles, many of them dominant: 4 turnovers).
Hobbledehoy exceeding the limitations of his nickname....

Wilkinson had a good game. He kicked every conversion, some from wide. Good crisp passing and did well to tidy up some average service. He didn't get much chance to show his pace. I'm disappointed for the lad though, I thought he would be in Sharks plans more by now.
