Good report. Sanderson suggests that it was their second team which of course adds to the ridiculous match up. Indeed you do wonder about the safety of such a match up at scrum time. I wonder what the TV viewing figures have been for some of the walkovers that have occurred during the WC. I’m quite a keen rugby union fan but have avoided watching those encounters. I also wonder what the impact of watching on tv a crushing defeat has on the attitude to rugby in countries such as Chile or Uruguay.
Anyway on to the real thing on Sunday.

With regard to TV viewing I would imagine the PRC figures are very low but then again with the odd exception the figures for Premiership games are also very low. I remember an average figure of 250,000 being reported a year or so ago. The truth is that not many people are interested in professional club rugby in this country.

So I very much doubt a big TV contract will be in the offing at renewal time.
