Is Ollie Davies the reason we are not commiting to Tom Curtis as backup 10 ?

Only half watched the game but looked like poor conditions and not one for the ages - good win though, especially with being down to 13 in the first half

Very silly yellow for Burrows, but he grew into the game
McEachran had a few scrum wobbles early but grew into the game - won a few pens and leaked a few, scrums felt a bit of a coin flip tbh

Bench front row barely got a handful of minutes between them, so didn't see much of Ramont - not sure if the plan is to start them all next game, or something, and share the minutes out that way?

FT for Roy 3 : 19 (pen try, 4 pens Coen)

I thought Tye was spared because of the 60 mins he played v Bath

Far too many schoolboy errors from England.

As usual with England sides the 10,12,13 axis didn't really work.

Fwiw I thought Pollock motm. Coen dead eye kicker.

Team is out for Friday versus the French:

McEachran starts at Loosehead and Burrow captains from lock.

Raymont and Hanson on the bench covering tighthead and scrum-half respectively.

Congratulations to all!

Didn't realise Davies actually got parachuted on the bench - just presumed he got pulled from our game to be a traveling reserve

England not fully clicking yet but that's two very solid wins - odds on for a grandslam now? Italy will have something to say about it, but with them losing to Wales tonight maybe this crop isn't as good as the last couple of years

Osian Roberts starting at 13 for Wales and Wootton on the bench for Ireland too

Wootton finally on for Ireland - thought their starting 9 has been poor, surprised it's taken 74mins to make the switch

Not seen much of Roberts for Wales, but they've been on defence the majority of the time - over 200 tackles made so far and their captain, the Tigers openside, has made over 30

Tye Raymont at Tighthead, Tom Burrow at Lock (also captain) and Don Hanson at Scrum-half are in the starting XV.

Ralph MacEachran and Ollie Davies are replacements also.

Congratulations to them all!

Monster scrum and then McEachran scores a beauty of a try

.....and then proceeded to chuck it away - or rather drop it.

Handling shocking, lack of nous in attack.

That said these games need better refs.
By Olyy
#72625
Ref was crap all game but pretty even handed with it but that last 10mins was shameful - I don't think I've ever seen anyone lose control so badly, and make such consistently awful calls

Calling penalty advantage then blowing for a collapsed maul scrum in the next phase and having to have the touch judge remind him that it should be a penalty was a particular high point

Backs were absolutely shocking on both attack and defence - thought Raymont was excellent and Burrow noticeable in the lineout and the loose. McEachran dominated his opposite man in the scrum.

Hanson wasn't great but Coen, outside him, was dreadful (and all the players outside Coen too tbf) so a bit of sympathy to him

England were dreadful last week against Italy @ Bath too.

Our coaching seems…… an opportunity for improvement shall we say. :brickwall:

Watched the second half only but that was dire. Awful handling in the backs and tactics
being played by the numbers for a diffrent game than the one the Welsh were adopting.
I got fed up of the big lad running into multiple tacklers and forming a big ruck when the
Welsh had moved away for the next big lad to run into.
It always looked that the Welsh outnumbered our attack by multiple bodies.
The Welsh rush defence absolutely swamped our attack.
No adapting to the Welsh defence with grubbers or chips.
I hope the 1st team were watching as we know what to expect today.
Grit and determination.

Surprised they've got Coen there - he's as dull as dull can be. Can't run a backline at all, but is a good kicker
Maybe that's all you need to be in SB's good books?

Thought both our props had good tournaments but can understand them not being listed as players on the verge of a breakthrough - believe they've both still got a year's worth of u20 eligibility left
