Sadly, i think their road is run.

So let’s see what the council now do.

Mr Dennett was asked to give an update on the club and the city’s Community Stadium which is owned by the council, and where Salford Reds play.

The bit that is the news

A bridging loan to secure the short-term future of Salford Red Devils has ‘not materialised,’ according to Salford mayor Paul Dennett.

Will that be the cue for the Council to dig a deeper hole to throw some more tax payer money into. Before setting light to it ?

Hopefully they will throw some Lowry into it, matchstick men and matchstick dogs burn
better than water lillies.

Apparently we've renamed the stadium The CorpAcq stadium. But it's not ours to name! How does that work - will Salford call it something different? Or are we also buying the stadium?

Presumably now would be a good time to buy? Perhaps we could get one of those £1 deals Tory councils give to their mates? I'm just joking.

The naming rights can be bought - AJ Bell were the first.

Part of the rental contract maybe?

Bad to worse although no surprise they’ve been relegated

I suppose the paragraph ...

"It means the Bulls, a dominant force during the 2000s, will return to the top flight after an 11-year absence filled with financial troubles and a stint in the third-tier League One in 2018."

... does show that it's possible eventually to come back!

This situation is a tough one for Salford Council, both politically and economically. They put in a lot of rate payers money for a rugby league stadium, but now they don’t have a club to use it.

Since we’re the only team they can reach out to to get out of this pickle, it will be interesting to see how they see things moving forward and what Sale’s role will be.

Still, it’s a really sad day for Salford Red fans.

Fantastic money (mis) management by the Council. I'd be absolutely livid if I was a council tax payer in Salford.

If only there was someone in the area who wanted a stadium for their (rugby) club - wouldn't it be wonderful to raise some money for the Council tax payers, rather than sparring money up the wall on a political vanity project

I think the council were in a no-win situation. They don't help and people cry out, they do pay and it's financial mis-management. Depends on whether you are a Reds supporter or not, I suppose.

Hardly no-win. It's not their money to be wasting on vanity projects.
