Confirmed with a post on his Instagram that he’s out for the remainder of the season. Looks like he’s had surgery in Finland.

Rest up well and see you in September!

Really gutted not just for us but for him - finally gotten himself into a good place with England and then misses almost an entire year (though with how England are playing maybe missing out actually strengthens his stock!)

Hopefully this is the final end of his hamstring issues and the start of a good long injury free run up to the world cup

Hopefully a successful surgery, a good, long rest and recuperation and back to his best for the start of the new season.

Would like some more info on this. Elected to go under the knife in Autumn to remove a a staple or stitch (something) that was irritating his hamstring. Meant to be 4-6 weeks out, next we hear is March and he’s out for the whole season.

Shame for him, but have faith he’ll come back in top form next year. More valuable to us as a club than his brother a lot of the time. Not downplaying Tom, but Ben has been incredible.

Believe when he had the initial surgery, all appeared to be fine hence the 4-6 weeks. However he developed an issue with one of the sutures, which had basically attached itself to the muscle which was causing him discomfort. That requires a further surgery to sort out which I'd imagine is what this was.

Wasn't that the surgery he had before the November internationals?

Then he came back for two games and went off early against....Glasgow? with a hamstring issue, seemed to be on the brink of a comeback/was back in full training, went into the England initial 6N camp as walking wounded and then went home a week later and now this

Maybe the first surgery didn't work, or it led to an imbalance because he'd been playing through pain for so long, or maybe it's unrelated and he just did his hamstring in England training coincidentally 🤷🏻‍♂️

I only turned the game on just as they finished discussing it - was it a knee injury? Collapsed maul or something?

Very sorry for him. Ben pulled up while chasing in the wonderful victory in Clermont, and despite the euphoria of the unexpected victory, he appeared pretty down post match. I suspect he knew it was a serious hamstring injury.
The silver lining, however, is that he is not associated with England’s performances this 6 nations, and while I have my blue eyes, if he gets back to full fitness, he may well find that not being so tarnished could be beneficial for his future chances at international level, because no-one this season has put their hands up to bag an open side position.

Didn’t see Tom’s injury, and I am sorry for him, but certainly Underhill didn’t offer an unarguable case, and Pollock wasn’t trusted to do so.
