It didn't look good at all at the time. For such a giant he's very injury prone.

Nothing really concrete in that article - however I agree it didn't look good.

Hopefully nothing serious - I remember Big Teds shoulder troubles and him saying that once your shoulders start going they will just continue to do so (something about the...tendons? stretching when it gets dislocated and not returning to normal).

Luckily Wiese and Beaumont will help plug the gap (though replacing someone just back from a serious shoulder injury with someone just back from a serious knee injury is a bit dicey!)

Poss is shaping up to be a very good squad player, hasn't put a foot wrong in anything I've seen on him. Might not have a huge ceiling (though who knows) but has been quietly effective so far and will only improve.

Also Poss v effective in lineout against Wasps. If it’s a dislocation in theory it could be relatively short term.

He’s a bit late to emerge as a first team player but seems to get better with every appearance at the moment. Played really well v wasps and another big opportunity for him v Sarries as well

Sadly the prospects are not good with the recurrence of such a serious injury. A long period out after further surgery is almost inevitable but it could even be career-ending. Whilst one sincerely hopes not, there is only so much one can do surgically to prevent recurrence in an inherently structurally at-risk joint.

Marc Marquez in MotoGP had so many dislocated shoulders, he could pop them back in on his own!

I am fairly optimistic but he won’t be playing in the next tens days and it looks there is no structural damage but there may be some ligament damage.

well with Webber, Wiese and Beaumont back into the mix I suppose its as good a time as any for us to pick up a few injuries in the pack. certainly with these back plus Nield doing well and Langdon/ Ashman coming through we appear to have a bit more depth than a few months ago.

Popping a dislocation back on your own is always good. However, even if you can, but it prevents you playing on, you become something of a liability. Anyway, Marquez has had both shoulders operated on, so it would seem popping it back yourself isn't necessarily the fulltime answer.
Obviously one has to wait expert opinion, but I would tend to go along with what H's D posted. As regards Dimes' thoughts, ligaments are part of the structure of a joint and any dislocation will damage them to one degree or another.

The Lood injury sounds bad.

I was surprised at the time about how many apparently promising Jets were let go during lockdown.

As I've suggested on another thread re Nic Dolly and Akker's call-up and injury, surely this injury along with the Du Preez twins call-ups offers a way back for Rouban Birch even if only on a very short term basis initially.

That's nasty. I notice some players wear shoulder pads, so would this not have been a sensible precaution for Lood? Modern safety pads (for motorcyclists) are quite thin and can absorb a lot of force.

Would they restrict his reach and movement, specifically upwards when at full-stretch in a line-out jump?

Would motorcycle type pads also cause more damage to the opposition player?

He probably does wear padding on his shoulders - the amount of padding you're legally allowed is very small (15mm maybe?) so a lot of players tape it directly on instead of wearing an extra shirt under their kit:

Yes, probably. Good point. Although it could be made in sections and articulated to allow extra movement.

It shouldn't cause damage to the tackler, as it is absorbing energy, not releasing it back to the tackler.

For all the woes around hooker’s throwing in and lineout performance in general, I think in reality we should be relatively pleased to be competing at the top when you consider that Lood and Beaumont will both have missed the vast majority of the season. We had to massively overplay Bryn and also missed out on back row rotation from playing JL as a lock all year.

Ben Curry out for 3 weeks after the leg injury v Quins.

Really unfortunate timing for Ben - both in terms of potential play off games and a potential England callup (before the lockdown EJ said he was going to rest a lot of RWC players this autumn, not sure if it's still the case now, but with Ben's form he surely would've been near the front of the queue for a callup).

Great news on Harrison, though.

Big problem for Ben as many rivals at 7/jackal have been showing well - Earl, Willis (x2) ,to name but a few.

Earl is already in the EPS,
My guess would've been Ludlam dropped (replaced by Jack Willis), Tom Curry rested (replaced by Ben)

With Beaumont, Lood and probably Wiese out for the season, my main concern is that we've lost all of our lineout callers. I don't think Phillips does that kind of thing and JLDP almost certainly doesn't. For this reason I wouldn't be surprised to see Postlethwaite get a go on Sunday.

Poss & Phillips might be a useful combination - one athlete and one grunt. It might reduce the penalty count too.

According to Rugby draft JL has conceded 6 pens this season from 15 starts and 3 bench games. They don’t have stats for the midweek games post lockdown.

1 red and no yellows.

Having said that I’d be happy with a Poss/Phillips combo, both have done well with their opportunities. Not sure Philips would be good to start after 70 mins on Tuesday though.

Mind you, we may not have a game anyway.
