I suppose my point is really that, if we are getting the rough end of the stick from the ref, it's probably because we've pissed him off, or because a player has a (deserved) reputation. It's not because he's agin us for personal reasons: it's entirely our fault.DavenportSharky wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 7:56 pmI don’t think that any referee is conciously biased but they are human. Rugby, is possibly more than any other sport, open to interpretation from a refereeing perspective. At most breakdowns and almost every scrum there are multiple offences being committed. A referee can be lenient or not. We all know that sides are constantly marginally offside. That lineouts are not straight is a given but how much squint is interpreted by the officials. Hopefully over a match and certainly over a season, things even themselves out. The problem is that referees enter games with preconceived ideas about players deficiencies and irritations. They are human and not machines. They are influenced by home crowds, the scrutiny of television and their own fame and persona. Jono would get on my tits if I was a referee and I would be keen to make a point. His interaction with officials is a negative for Sale. We all know it and Dimes needs to sort it out.
