First game up then. Great result against a very young Tigers team. A couple of handling errors and a couple of great tries. Still not sure what the penalty try was for though.

Thoughts on the game?...

Faster ball movement, defence looked good, although a few tackles lacked commitment.
We were playing the boys team though.

Otherwise, get rid of the dancing girls at the start, firstly they can't and secondly it's not needed these days. And what happened to the convenient shelf to rest a pint on in the bar?

Game entertaining enough.

Pint shelf? Are you serious?

Dancing girls.
Of course they can’t dance, and of course they’re not needed. But they all enjoyed it, they all brought at least mum and dad, who probably bought something, and they’ll all go back to school and/or college and tell their mates what a great time they had.

Good community engagement. Well done management.

Do like any well prepared former player does and grow your own.

Re. The dancing girls. Isn’t that the point?

With you TT. They may not be that good, but on the flip side what is does for them (confidence etc) is the plus point here. Takes some bottle to dance in front of a large crowd.

Regarding the match, wasn’t there but received a good synopsis from Rollo.

Yes the result was good, but I suspect tigers were holding players back for the 19 Oct. that’s the one that really counts. How I’d love a repeat of the result.

So glad Rollo made it. Inconvenient the cricket being at Edgbaston.
I didn’t notice the helicopter landing behind the West Stand, did he use Hindlip and have the Chief Constable’s car ferry him down to 6Ways?

I believe he watched most of it then got a blue light escort direct to the ground in the Rolls, driven by his man.

Anyway, back to the game.

I enjoyed the fact that the tries came mostly from multi-passing (is that a word?) with many players involved. Yes, there were passes into thin air but this was a scratch team not used to playing with each other and they can be forgiven.

With Humphries up to speed I don't think we are going to be short of pace on the wing, Beck showed his class and Simpson impressed.

Whilst the scrums were an issue, the forwards worked well with the lineout far less rustier than Leicester's.

First game, a mixed experience team but encouraging.

Never mind back to the game, rambling chats work well.

“Multi-passing”....word? ...no.

Try “quick hands”

How did the new boys Carey, Montgomery and Kitchener show? Anyone else stand out?
Apologies but I couldn’t make it today.

Thought Big Kitch was exceptional. Always working and effective.

Montgomery got a try, also busy and effective.

Carey I didn’t notice much, he was subbed fairly early in in the 2nd half iirc.

Fair to say that our scrum was nowhere as effective after the subs OR Tigers was way more effective with their subs.

BishBash, what to to call you for short is a bit of a conundrum. Cant use BB 'cos Brummagem Bertie already got that (he is on here isn't he ?). Any suggestions anyone ??

Anyway, I too noticed the removal of the shelves all round the East Stand bar areas. Am a bit puzzled as to the thinking behind this move. I guess the thinking might be that if your glass/cup is in your hand all the time then you are likely to drink more !
Getting people to drink more was a recurring theme at the 'Meet the Owners' event last week.
Or it could be to discourage people from hanging around in the concourse to ease the normal congestion perhaps.

I am in regular contact with Bertie, who, like parliament, is currently in recess. I know he won’t mind me saying that when he does recommence posting it will be here that he posts.

Still not sure what the penalty try was for though.
Deliberate knock down I thought, slapping the ball away.
