That's a lesser spotted dogfish. There are several kinds of dogfish - the original pic looks like a spiny dogfish.

Also became the filling in rip off scampi when Monkfish became almost as expensive as the original prawns.

The main point was that there seemed to be outrage, perhaps even a hint of disgust that this was being sold at a fish market, when it is a perfectly edible (at times delicious) fish. As for endangered, the lesser spotted was a pest catch when fishing for winter Cod in the Channel. Proper fishing, obviously, none of this trawling malarkey.
